“I have known Margaret Laforest for at least seven years in conjunction with her work onboard the USS Salem CA 139. She has always been a tireless worker who was willing and most able to help out in whatever project we had to do onboard the ship. She has been in the forefront of trying to teach about and keeping the tradition of the City of Quincy that the USS Salem and the Fore River Shipyard represent. The history of the ship and the yard is extensive and Margaret has done a great job in promoting this.

I have seen her great love of the kids that come aboard for a visit and how very much she is held in high esteem by the crew members of the ship.

In terms of her activities off of the ship and in the community, she approaches these with the same zeal that I equate with her. She is a tireless worker and wants the best for everybody she touches. I most heartedly endorse Margaret Laforest for City Councilor of Ward 1. She, indeed, would be a great asset to the City government.”

Way back then she was involved in civic issues and community issues most kids her age didn’t even know about. This long time involvement has broadened her desire to be an integral force in wanting to improve the City of Quincy and to want to be that person who can lead Ward One.

I would be supporting Margaret simply because I have known her so long and I believe she has the knowledge, the ability, the enthusiasm and the everlasting energy to do the job. Then……I went to her Chowder Fundraiser and heard her speak! Margaret does her homework; she listens to people’s concerns; she has fresh, new ideas; and she is a team player. Everyone has to run for a first time to gain experience and I believe Margaret deserves the shot to prove to us she can be a successful Ward One Councilor.”
