“We have been impressed with Margaret from her early days as a student at Broad Meadows to her recent involvement in the Houghs Neck Community Council! Any task that Margaret set for herself or any cause she has espoused has benefited from her enthusiasm and dedication. She was a community activist long before she decided to seek public office! She has paid her dues! Ward One has always had strong representation – Margaret will continue this proud tradition.” Frank and Sandra McCauley, Houghs Neck

“I have known Margaret Laforest for at least seven years in conjunction with her work onboard the USS Salem CA 139. She has always been a tireless worker who was willing and most able to help out in whatever project we had to do onboard the ship. She has been in the forefront of trying to teach about and keeping the tradition of the City of Quincy that the USS Salem and the Fore River Shipyard represent. The history of the ship and the yard is extensive and Margaret has done a great job in promoting this. I have seen her great love of the kids that come aboard for a visit and how very much she is held in high esteem by the crew members of the ship. In terms of her activities off of the ship and in the community, she approaches these with the same zeal that I equate with her. She is a tireless worker and wants the best for everybody she touches. I most heartedly endorse Margaret Laforest for City Councilor of Ward 1. She, indeed, would be a great asset to the City government.” Robert W. Tait QMCS ( SS ) USN ( Ret.), USS Salem CA 139, Fore River Shipyard, Quincy

“As an Adams Shore resident, I’m supporting Margaret Laforest as our Ward 1 Councilor because we need strong leadership for our neighborhood. There are many issues facing Adam Shore, including but not limited to; the possible closing of our Library branch, a recent increase in crime, Sea Street speed patrols for safety, the continuance of marsh restoration, beach access and public park maintenance. For years, Margaret has shown energy and determination in her all community service positions. We need her dynamic personality for our Ward 1 Councilor.” Teri Boyd, Adams Shore

“I proudly lived in Germantown for 31 years and I have known Margaret since she was a teenager. Way back then she was involved in civic issues and community issues most kids her age didn’t even know about. This long time involvement has broadened her desire to be an integral force in wanting to improve the City of Quincy and to want to be that person who can lead Ward One. I would be supporting Margaret simply because I have known her so long and I believe she has the knowledge, the ability, the enthusiasm and the everlasting energy to do the job. Then……I went to her Chowder Fundraiser and heard her speak! Margaret does her homework; she listens to people’s concerns; she has fresh, new ideas; and she is a team player. Everyone has to run for a first time to gain experience and I believe Margaret deserves the shot to prove to us she can be a successful Ward One Councilor.” Mary Fitzgerald (Mary Fitz)

“I am so relieved to know that there is someone who is willing to try and make a difference in our Ward and not just sit back and let the world pass by. Being a resident of Germantown (Snug Harbor area) and a tax paying and voting resident it would be so refreshing to know there is someone who is interested in my neighborhood. When I met Margaret I saw in her the qualities of a person who would keep the entire Ward’s interest in mind and make herself available to us when situations arise that would need a Ward Councilor’s involvement and support. Good luck and know that I am supporting of your campaign.” Lynda Southerland, Germantown

“I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to support Margaret LaForest for our Ward One Councilor. Ward One is in dire need of enthusiastic and effective representation. Our voice on the Council has seemingly been silenced for too long, with crucial issues being ignored or simply not recognized. Margaret offers us experience in community affairs, her indefatigable efforts in planning and promoting city events, and a voice that speaks intelligently, consistently, firmly, and coherently. Her efforts sometimes go unnoticed, but the result of these efforts is apparent in all the good we see in our Ward One Community. Margaret’s sense of volunteerism has afforded residents of Ward One and the City of Quincy as a whole, amenities we would otherwise be without. She has earned my respect as a voter, and as a resident of Ward One.” Wendy Connors, Houghs Neck

“My husband and I worked with Margaret on a fundraiser for a sick child that we knew. During that process, I was able to witness first hand, Margaret’s enthusiasm, strong organizational and planning skills and her passion for helping out her community. This fundraiser was a huge success because Margaret had the ability to motivate and inspire the people involved. I did not know Margaret when we started the fundraiser but became a strong advocate of her leadership once the process was underway.” Denise McGue, Quincy

“I have known Margaret LaForest for many years now, and have worked on many, many projects and committees with her. Although our styles are very different, Margaret always steps up the plate without hesitation, and brings projects to fruition. She knows how to engage neighbors, politicians and businesses in order to make things happen, and she always makes things happen. She is the first person I think of when someone says they have a need, and I know Ward 1 will be in good hands when she is elected as our Councillor. I would be proud to call her my Councillor, and I am proud to call her my friend.” Fiona Canavan, Houghs Neck

“Margaret has been involved in so many charitable and community events as a private citizen. And we have had the privilege of working with Margaret at many Houghs Neck events and she has amazing energy and enthusiasm. We feel she is a wonderful person, a great asset to the city of Quincy and would make an excellent Ward 1 Councilor.” Steve and Nancy Holler, Houghs Neck

“After working with Margaret on numerous community events as well as fundraisers, we find her to be an unstoppable force! She continuously goes above and beyond for the greater good.” Cris Batson, Houghs Neck

“I am a resident of Quincy, MA, in Ward 1. In January of 2008, I learned that my neighbor’s seven year old daughter was diagnosed with Rasmussen’s encephalitis, a potentially fatal disease. Her family was in financial difficulties due to the medical bills and was in jeopardy of losing their home. I wanted to hold a fund raiser on their behalf. I personally had no experience doing such a project. I approached Margaret Laforest for assistance. To my amazement, she not only volunteered, she chaired our committee and steered our efforts to an outcome beyond our wildest dreams. Margaret’s compassion, professionalism and dedication to this project are to be commended. All her hard work and experience were donated to a family she had never met! Margaret is a jewel for our community. I have no doubt Margaret would work just as tirelessly representing our community as our City Councilor.” Capt. Dale C. Freeman, Germantown

“Having worked with Margaret on numerous school and PTO functions, I know, first-hand, the enormous amount of energy and boundless enthusiasm Margaret brings to whatever task she is assigned. Margaret’s wealth of knowledge of and experience in the City of Quincy, particularly her Houghs Neck neighborhood, has been invaluable.” John and Maryclare Himmel, Quincy

“I came to get to know Margaret only a few months ago while working on a fundraiser together. Margaret joined the group without any ties to anyone but the family the event was for. She was positive, upbeat, realistic and relentless in her goal to make the event a huge success. And it was. Margaret stepped up for a local Houghs Neck family that needed a little extra. That’s all she needed to know and she was in 100%. I have great respect and appreciation for her and am happy to support her in her goal as Ward 1 Councilor.” Amy O’Brien, Merrymount
